The Sphere Project Workshop is Open for Application!

The Sphere Project, developed by Oxfam and other international non-governmental organizations, establishes universally recognized humanitarian aid standards. It advocates for a rights-based and participatory approach in disaster relief, aiming to create common standards that ensure the quality and accountability of aid efforts, while guaranteeing that disaster-affected populations receive dignified basic living conditions and their due rights.

In 2017, Oxfam held the first Sphere Project training camp in Taiwan, offering training on international standards to practitioners and organizations preparing for disaster relief. This year, a short-term workshop will be held to discuss practical applications for those who have previously participated in Sphere Project training, as well as other practitioners involved in disaster relief. The one-and-a-half-day workshop will review the concepts of the Sphere Project and introduce the latest international developments, particularly the inclusion and application of the 2018 revised Core Humanitarian Standards. The workshop will focus on the disaster relief experience from the Hualien earthquake in early 2018, reflecting with partners on how to apply the Sphere Project in practice to improve the quality of future disaster relief efforts.
