2024 NGO International Development Lecture Series

Taiwan AID’s Annual Event, the NGO International Development Lecture Series, is open for registration.

In recent years, we have seen disasters happening in different regions, and climate change has become a climate crisis. The reduction of carbon emissions has become urgent for all of us.

This year, we have planned two lectures. The topics include "Climate Change and Environmental Conservation: What Can We Do?" and " Africa is Far But NGOs in Africa isn't that Far!"

We invite scholars, and NGO experts to share valuable experiences in participating in international development work, and share their insights, challenges, and valuable experiences. We invite you to join it !

First Lecture: Climate Change and Environmental Conservation: What Can We Do?
We are honored to invite Hsu Kuang-Jung, a retired Professor from the National Taiwan University. Professor Hsu, also the Executive Board Director of Mom Loves Taiwan, actively monitors safety issues in Taiwan's nuclear power plants and conducts research on global climate change and environmental issues in Taiwan. She is dedicated to promoting initiatives and activities related to Taiwan's sustainable development in energy and the environment.

Additionally, we invite three NGO experts to share their life stories of involvement in environmental and climate issues. They are Wang Min-ling, CEO of the Earth Citizens Foundation; Lin Yan-ting, Researcher at the Environmental Rights Foundation; and Chang Yu-cheng, Senior Manager at the International Climate Development Institute. What challenges have they encountered in their NGO careers?

Second Lecture: Africa is Far But NGOs in Africa isn't that Far!
The second lecture focuses on Taiwanese NGOs in Africa. We are pleased to invite Liu Xiao-peng, a professor at the Graduate Institute of Development Studies at National Cheng Chi University. Professor Liu specializes in China and Taiwan’s development aid in Africa, global poverty alleviation, ethnic studies, and politic studies. In this lecture, Professor Liu will share the origins, challenges, and experiences of Taiwan and China’s development aid in Africa.
Likewise, we have invited three NGO experts to share the achievements of Taiwanese NGOs in Africa. They are Zhou Wen-Chen, CEO of the Bjorgaas Social Welfare Foundation; Emily Tao, Director of Resource Development at Step 30; and Yang Yi-ting, Founder of the Girls Love Girls.  They are dedicated to promoting healthcare , education, poverty alleviation, and gender equality programs in Africa.
